Why the TIGER SWORD SCHOOL

There is something fundamental in owning and using a sword…something historic. For almost all of human existence the sword was a tool, weapon and for some, an extension of something greater than themselves…

The TIGER SWORD SCHOOL was founded in its current form for the study and practice of historical Republic Era Chinese Military Saber also known as Big-Knife, and Dadao. The TIGER SWORD SCHOOL is internationally recognized through the International Sifu Organization.

The TIGER SWORD SCHOOL is dedicated to the practice and the revival of the Chinese Military Saber. Through the teaching of accurate technique with an strong historical focus, in combination with the continual study of surviving manuals and the help of demonstrations, we hope to raise awareness and popularity of this tradition.

The main research focus within the School is the translation and interpretation of Chinese Military Saber as it was applied in China during the early 20th Century.

Want to learn Chinese Swordsmanship, but don't have a good local school? We offer a special program that gives you the opportunity to get an intensive training experience with weekend seminars that build off our curriculum. Our curriculum includes, but is not limited to Chinese Military Saber history, forms, cutting, drills, ranking and testing, tactical knife and bayonet, and era related self-defense.

We provide a fun and friendly environment in which to improve your sword skills whilst meeting like-minded and interesting people. We run weekly sessions and seminars.
